Dissociation is a member funded association for current and former staff of the UK MOD’s Defence Intelligence (DI), formerly known as Defence Intelligence Staff (DIS).
Its unusual name is taken from ‘DIS’ and reflects the diversity of organisations from which its people come. Formed in 2014, it has a constitution, structure, and a programme of meetings and diverse events.
The website has the following aims:
To enable eligible people to apply for membership of the association.
To provide a members-only forum for members to communicate amongst themselves and for purposes of social interaction.
To inform members of current events of interest.
To introduce the general reader to publicly available sources of information on defence intelligence, both in the UK and elsewhere.
Members of Dissociation are researching the history of Defence Intelligence and its predecessor organisations, and this website will feature aspects of this fascinating story. British Defence Intelligence can trace its continuous existence to the formation of the Topographical & Statistical Department in 1855.
The website provides a tantalising glimpse into the general aspects and academic world of intelligence collection and evaluation.
